Our tour starts with a cyclo ride along the main boulevards. Your driver will take you to the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Post Office, a reflection of Vietnam’s colonial past. Conquered by France in 1859, Saigon was influenced by the French during their colonial occupation and many classical French style buildings still stand today.
You will then walk to the Reunification Palace, a symbol of another historical period: the American occupation. Built during the Vietnam War, it was the official workplace of the President of South Vietnam until the People’s Army liberated the country, as their tanks crashed through the gates of the palace in April 30, 1975 (the Fall of Saigon).
Next stop will be the Museum of traditional medicine, where an impressive collection of Vietnamese herbs and remedies, medicinal plants and technologies can be found.
Our trip ends with a delicious meal in one of the many fine Vietnamese restaurant’s where you will enjoy the traditional flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.
A transfer will be arranged to your hotel or to Ben Thanh Market, should you want to immerse yourself in the glittery stoles of silk and Vietnamese handicrafts.
